A plaque of appreciation was presented to our university staff Buket AKTAY BARSAN by the Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Recep BENTLİ for her contributions to the Martyr Specialist Sergeant Kemal Aktay Library established within the body of the Doğanşehir Vahap Küçük Vocational School of Malatya Turgut Özal University (MTÜ) and for her outstanding efforts and services during her term of office. The plaque presentation ceremony was held at the rector's office on Thursday, February 01, 2024.

The Martyr Specialist Sergeant Kemal Aktay Library was built by Buket AKTAY BARSAN, the sister of our martyr, in memory of Specialist Sergeant Kemal Aktay, who was martyred as a result of the explosion of a mine laid by PKK members on the land in the Düğün Mountain region of the Uludere District of Şırnak, and was put into service last year. In addition to book and magazine services, the library offers the students and staff of the Doğanşehir Vahap Küçük Vocational School a comfortable study opportunity, especially during exam times. There is also a corner in the library that tells the story of our martyr's life.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Recep BENTLİ and Buket AKTAY BARSAN, as well as our College Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet KAZAN and our College Secretary Tekin AKÇAĞLAR also attended the plaque presentation ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, our Rector Prof. Dr. Recep BENTLİ congratulated our martyr’s sister Buket AKTAY BARSAN for the library she brought to our college and presented her with a plaque. Our Rector said, “Our martyr Kemal Aktay is a hero who sacrificed his life for our country. This library built in his memory provides a great service to both our students and staff. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the construction of this library, especially Buket AKTAY BARSAN.”

Buket AKTAY BARSAN, who received her plaque, made an emotional speech. “The most beautiful monument for my brother’s memory would be a library. I felt obliged to have this library built both to keep his name alive and to be useful to students. I would like to thank Malatya Turgut Özal University, Doğanşehir Vahap Küçük Vocational School and Doğanşehir Municipality for their support in the construction of this library.”

The ceremony ended after the souvenir photo was taken.
